In August, we welcomed our new Executive Director, Christine Hass, to The Juniper Fund team. We are excited to have her expertise and experience as part of our organization, and look forward to continue building on our missions to support families in Nepal who are impacted by the death of a mountain worker.
Below is a portion of the letter she wrote to the Board of Directors upon her selection, where she shares a portion of her history and life outside of work.
Good Evening -
I’m looking forward to working together with all of you to ensure the long-term success of The Juniper Fund. I’m honored to have been selected for this role and thank you for putting your trust in me. I will work diligently to maintain and grow that trust, not only from you but the families The Juniper Fund serves.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Seattle, and my husband, Clint, and I live in Ballard with our 15-month-old daughter, Mila, and the newest member of our family, Maddie, a German Sheppard mix. In our "free time" (I don't feel like I have much of that left with a 15-month-old) we like to wander and adventure! Our family "bucket list" of places to see is continually growing, faster than we can cross things off.
For the last 13 years, I’ve been working as a director at Remote Medical International, a rapidly growing international business specializing in medical care in remote and austere environments. I've specialized in the administration side of the house in recent years, with a focus on human resources, and have maintained involvement in all aspects of operations, sitting at the director and executive level throughout my time with the company.
Clint and I in 2013 had the opportunity to travel to Nepal with Melissa (Arnot Reid) and see the Khumbu through her eyes, while also making our own memories. What a treat, and an experience that has helped shape who I am. That trip and the experiences we all shared in Nepal is one of the reasons I'm so incredibly inspired by this role.
I’m looking forward to diving into work come August, and will very likely be reaching out to all of you very soon. Again - thank you for this opportunity to serve The Juniper Fund as its Executive Director, and I’m looking forward to the long relationship we have before us.
