A professional guide and cameraman, David has reached the summit of Mt. Everest six times and is one of the premier international expedition leaders of recent times. His diverse projects and commitments all revolve around the mountains and their communities.
A long time Northwest mountaineer, David began guiding in 1997. He has guided and climbed throughout the Cascades, Andes, Himalaya, Altai, Alaska Range, and Caucuses in Russia. He has traveled extensively over his lifetime and his passion for learning, exploring and understanding world populations has driven his guiding. David has successfully led expeditions to all of the Seven Summits (the highest peak on each continent) as well as climbs and expeditions in Mongolia, Mexico, Bolivia and other Himalayan peaks.
Since 2000 he has spent 2 or 3 seasons a year visiting Nepal professionally or personally. Apart from guiding David has a keen interest in Nepali history and politics and Himalayan cultures. He graduated from the University of Washington and lives with his wife and son in Seattle. David was a founding board member of the Climb for Cancer Foundation and has helped with a variety of other non-profit projects in conjunction with his climbing.
